It’s short-wave infrared in a quartz envelope, tuned for fast, directional heating. Energy hits the rod and the glass surface without dumping heat into the surrounding air, so convection losses drop. The thermal field stays focused, which keeps hot spots from forming and holds the glass edge-to-edge within a tight temperature band. It’s designed to match standard voltages, with terminals and brackets that make it a drop-in replacement. The response is quick—seconds, not minutes—so line speed doesn’t get thrown off when glass thickness changes.

It’s straightforward, but alignment is the make-or-break. Set the lamp so the distance and angle stay uniform across the glass width; if you don’t, temperature variance creeps back in. Check that the existing power supply and control match the lamp’s rated load, and confirm clearances so you don’t get shadowing at the edges. When it’s set right, the preheat zone stays predictable—so the furnace can focus on tempering, not correction.
