We kept the power supply and the chassis separate from the heating elements. So, if a tube finally quits after five years of hard work, you don’t panic. The Nitty-Gritty Stuff
We use shortwave infrared technology. Instead of trying to heat the air (which often just leads to more condensation and dampness), it sends heat directly to the birds. It’s a much cleaner way to stay warm. To keep the gunk out, we sealed the housing tight. We also used high-grade quartz tubes with reinforced end-caps. Why? Because rapid temperature swings usually cause vacuum seals to leak, but these are built to take the hit.
A Couple of Things to Keep in Mind
Now, this design isn’t magic—it requires a little bit of care. Since the tubes need to fit perfectly, you can’t let the sockets get bent or rusted. If the connection point is clogged with dust or feathers, you might get some sparking (arcing), which nobody wants. Just keep those contact points clean, and you’re golden. We built these for the long haul. By making the “consumable” part—the tube—easy to swap, you stop worrying about replacing the whole system every few winters. It keeps your costs down and your birds warm without the usual drama.
